PVB Resin is Used in Ceramic Film Decals

2025-01-10

Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB resin) is used in ceramic film decals

PVB resin is a solvent-based resin synthesized by acetalization reaction of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and butyraldehyde under the action of a catalyst. Because this resin has good film-forming properties, excellent adhesion, and is non-toxic and harmless. PVB resin is often used to make ceramic decals (film decals).

PVB Resin for Ceramic Film Decals

PVB resin is dissolved in ethanol into a 12~14% solution, and then made into a film. After printing, it is used to replace ceramic (or enamel) decals, which not only saves processes but also improves product quality. The fired ceramic (or enamel) pattern is bright in color and smooth in texture. This film decal has good adhesion and bright colors, and can replace traditional ceramic decals.

In addition, PVB resin has good light resistance, water resistance, heat resistance, cold resistance and film-forming properties, so that ceramic products can maintain the clarity and color brightness of the pattern during long-term use.
